'A Distant Trail of Better Times' are a copule of 5 songs I recorded throughout the past 4 years. Beside a lot of ideas and sketches I collected for songs in a more 'classic band setting' style, the idea of this release was different: Starting with a melody or phrase that really got stuck in my head, I created 'buildings' of notes, melodies and harmonies upon that kind of 'basement' loop. Some of that 'houses' were bright and warm, some were dull and misty. A few were steep and frightening, others safe and strong.

After revisiting the records of these sessions, I picked out the ideas which hit me the most emotionally and arranged actual songs out of them, the five tracks of 'A Distant Trail of Better Times'.

The result is more calm, ambient and sensible than most of my previous songs. It withholds room for single melodies to let them grow and show their whole potential. It isn't meant to be excessive, loud and full of adrenaline, but to be deliberate, considerate and balanced. It tries to tell its story. Without haste, but with full consciousness.
